Melody

Melody belongs to Molly, whom I met through Daisy.  I’m very grateful for this: Molly is wonderful.

Melody has a huge personality.  He’s royalty, and he knows it. Being in his presence is like being allowed an audience with a benevolent Monarch. I heard Molly and Daisy talking about how Melody, in his heyday, could jump you out of the tack.  I well believe it looking at two of these photos.  The one in which Daisy is wearing a hunt coat was “back in the day” when Melody was cleaning up on the circuit. The one in which Daisy is wearing a Camo hat (yup, she got all kinds of crap for not wearing a helmet, it was spur of the moment), was last week.  Melody over jumping  - still – at nearly 20.

Currently, Mel is putting up with Jane trying to learn a little hunt seat. It is not royal.  It is not pretty.  It’s rather…disastrous.  She realized today she had to be slightly more careful at adjusting one stirrup at the canter.  Nice flying change.  Whoops.  He’s a great sport.  Just rolls his eyes.  Changes back when you step into the other stirrup.

For the record, Jane is horribly, insanely, (but not quite murderously) jealous that Daisy can hop on after months out of the saddle, and do THAT.
